Travel Clinic vs. Primary Care Physician
Why Scottsdale travelers choose a specialized travel medicine clinic over their family doctor.
Why Scottsdale Travelers Choose a Dedicated Travel Medicine Specialist
Your primary care physician knows your health history, but travel medicine is a specialty. Destination health risks change seasonally, outbreaks shift, and the difference between the right malaria prophylaxis regimen and the wrong one can define your trip. TravelBug Health’s travel medicine specialists focus exclusively on pre-travel consultation, keeping current with CDC and WHO guidance so your immunization plan reflects what’s actually happening at your destination right now, not a textbook written five years ago.
TravelBug Health is a certified Yellow Fever Vaccination Center, recognized by the Arizona Department of Health Services. Our specialists hold credentials in travel medicine and have supported patients traveling to over 100 countries, from business travelers heading to sub-Saharan Africa to Scottsdale families embarking on their first international adventure. We’re not a quick-stop pharmacy counter. We’re your travel health partner.

Travel Clinic FAQs for Scottsdale Patients
Don’t see your question? Call (480) 435-2774 or email us.
We recommend scheduling your pre-travel consultation at least 4 to 6 weeks before departure. Some vaccines like Yellow Fever and Japanese Encephalitis require time to take effect, and certain series (Hepatitis B, Rabies) require multiple doses spread over weeks. That said, we can also accommodate last-minute travelers. Call us and we’ll do what we can.
Bring your itinerary (countries, regions, planned activities), your current vaccination records if available, and a list of any medications you take. The more detail you can share, the more tailored your travel health assessment will be.
Coverage varies. Some insurance plans cover certain vaccines (like Hepatitis A/B) as preventive care, while travel-specific services like yellow fever vaccination or malaria prophylaxis may be out-of-pocket. We recommend calling your insurer before your visit. We’ll provide itemized receipts for reimbursement submissions.
Yes. We offer pediatric travel medicine consultations and can administer age-appropriate vaccines and provide family-specific guidance. Age and weight factor into certain medication decisions, so bring your child’s vaccination records to the appointment.
Absolutely. Corporate and business travelers are a large part of our Scottsdale patient base. We offer flexible scheduling and can often accommodate same-week appointments. If your itinerary is time-sensitive, call us directly at (480) 435-2774 and we’ll prioritize accordingly.
Yes, we work with small groups and corporate parties traveling together. Each traveler receives an individual travel health assessment, but we can coordinate scheduling to minimize disruption. Contact us to discuss group booking options for Scottsdale-based travel parties.
