  • Violent protests and civil unrest in response to the dismissal of the director of the Nepal Electricity Authority have been reported since March 25, 2025, in Kathmandu, Nepal.
  • Protests and civil unrest in response to the political situation in Turkey have been reported in Istanbul since March 19, 2025.
  • Widespread protests and civil unrest in response to the political situation in Serbia have been reported since November 2024 in cities throughout the country, including Belgrade. 

Protests have the potential to turn violent without warning. Police may use riot control agents (e.g., tear gas) and water cannons/rubber or live bullets. The presence of heavily armed security forces should be expected. Travelers should avoid areas of demonstrations and crowd gatherings, maintain a high level of security awareness, carry a fully charged communication device, and check in frequently with local media and embassy communications.
